Using the Island Trails Web Forum
Welcome, and thank you for participating in the Island Trails Network Forum! This instruction sheet should get you started. You may wish to print these instructions to guide you though this short registration process.
Establishing a user login
1. Navigate your browser to www.islandtrails.org. Click on the link at the top to the “Trails Forum.”
2. You will need to create a user ID and password. To do this, click “register” at the top of the Trails Forum page. After typing your user ID and password, an email confirmation will be sent to your email address with your activation code.
3. Once you have your activation code, click "log in" and enter the username and password you created. You will be asked to provide your activation code before taking part in the forum.
Entering your trail information into the Trail Forum
1. Once you are logged in to the Trails Forum, you should see a list of trails. If not, please click on “Trail Watch.” You should then see a list of trails.
2. If the trail you traveled is already listed, you can click on the link and skip directly to Step 3. If your trail is not listed, you will click on the link on the right-hand side of the green bar called “New Thread.” To start the new thread, please enter the name of your trail in the “Subject” field and leave other options in their default positions. The text for your trail description will be entered in the field entitled “Message.”
3. To enter text in your trail description, either type the information from your hardcopy trail survey form (download this at www.islandtrails.org/volunteertrailreport.pdf). Otherwise you can cut and paste trail descriptions from this online template.
4. Enter any descriptive text from your day on the trail. Email any photos you may have to trailsday@islandtrails.org.
Please note that our forum is still somewhat primitive. If you get high-centered, ask an Island Trails Network volunteer for assistance.
Thanks for all your great work! Please consider membership in the Island Trails Network!
